On Saturday, October 6th, Cairn Brewing will release the North Creek Common, a Kentucky Common ale brewed with spruce tips. The recipe comes from our friends at Micro Homebrew and is a true American beer style that is rarely produced in commercial breweries
The North Creek Common is based on the infrequently-brewed style of the Kentucky Common, found almost exclusively around the Louisville, Kentucky area from post-Civil War to Prohibition. The North Creek Common is a darker-colored, light-flavored, malt-accented beer with a dry finish and interesting piney and spicy flavors from the malt and the wild-harvested spruce tips added to the whirlpool. It’s a quite refreshing due to its high carbonation and mild flavors, and highly sessionable due to being served very fresh and with lower alcohol levels. . The North Creek Common comes in at 28 IBUs and 5.5% ABV.
